Henna Tatoo Program

Page history last edited by Barbara Jorgenson 1 yr ago

We had a Henna Tattoo Program at Three Creeks on Friday, May 23, 2008. Nineteen teens attended - most of them we had never seen at a program before. Wendy Rover from Rovinghorse Henna ran the program. Below is what she can offer during a program. We had less "school-like" version, i.e. less talk and more hands-on.

"I can provide a powerpoint slideshow and talk about henna's origins, cultural usage, history as body art and medicine, geology, botany and even a little chemistry. I do a lot with hands on stuff, and I bring a large array of items for kids to handle and ask questions about. I do a quick mixing demo where kids can see the henna being made and take turns stirring. I often do a clothing demonstration, wrapping girls in saris, and boys in kurta and lungee. The time winds up with henna demos and more Q and A while I work.  I can usually get henna on about 20-30 kids during the course of the workshop."

As far as pricing goes, she is dedicated to providing henna educational services to schools, community centers, libraries, etc. for an affordable price. For us, she charged $120.00 for the two hour session. She does offer a sliding scale if this price is prohibitive and is willing to work something out. Her address:

I highly recommend her. She was great with the teens and everyone got at least one tattoo. Some kids even got two! Yours truly also had a beautiful peacock done on my hand and as soon as I know how to transfer pictures from my phone to here, I'll put some up.
